Ocean Waves and Other Tales is a multicultural children's book comprised of four short stories: Ocean Waves, I Am Loved, Baby Bear, and I'm Sleepy. Throughout this book, the simplest expressions can make the greatest impact for ALL children in love, hope, togetherness, and of course, music. Music is an additional component that brings these stories to life in a universal and classic way. It is my hope that YOU enjoy this reading and musical experience.
Ocean Waves is a short story about a a little boy who dreams of going to the ocean and his dream comes true. His father takes him and his little sister to the beach. The little boy has a wonderful time swimming in the ocean and building sandcastles. Ocean Waves is the ultimate beach song that brings the rhythm of the beach experience to you.
I Am Loved is a short story about kids being loved by their mom, dad, brother, or sister. So many kids don't necessarily feel loved or treasured at home, at school, or by their community. Therefore, the song, I Am Loved, will make a child feel loved and special like a big hug.
Baby Bear is a short story about a little girl who has a favorite stuffed animal that just so happens to be a teddy bear. Most kids have a favorite stuffed animal or toy that they can't live without. The fun and energetic tune of the Baby Bear song will get kids dancing and singing. They will never want this song to end.
I'm Sleepy is a short story about a baby who is very sleepy, but has a hard time going to sleep. Kids are invited to view the clues in the story to see what will help a baby fall asleep. I'm Sleepy is a sweet and soothing lullaby that signifies quiet time, nap time, or sleep time.
Concerned about the lack of diversity in children’s books, Charnaie Gordon and her two kids are bridging the literacy gap with their new project that brings diverse books to children in each of the 50 states.
Gordon founded the Here Wee Read platform, which highlights diversity in children’s books, featuring multiple races, cultures and religions. The curated books also teach children about important subjects such as immigration and politics.
Through “50 States 50 Books”, Gordon and her two children are sending these significant books to non-profit organizations, libraries, schools, and more, to every state in the country.
Since launching this project, Gordon shares that several people have felt inspired to help, and have bought titles from Here Wee Read’s Amazon Wish List, that includes multiple sections such as “Juneteenth Books”; “Asian Picture & Chapter Books”; and “Latino/Bilingual Picture Books”.
